Seismic Response of Concrete-Sprayed Tunnels surrounded by coarse-grained soil

This project focuses on the advanced FE modelling and seismic analyses of underground structures and in particular tunnels surrounded by coarse-grained soils by considering both the nonlinear behaviour of the soil and the lining (or structure), with a view to identify potential vulnerable sections/areas and to monitor their complex dynamic behaviour.

The other area of interest is on the resilience of the above-ground structures, due to the existence of the underground structures which can affect detrimentally the post-earthquake settlements.
